I brought mine in.
I'm just a few days outside the return window.
The tech confirmed the leak issue- but played dumb when I asked about the LG/Samsung debate.
He said i could exchange it- but it might be worse. My risk.
The manager than asked me, "This is isn't about the LG vs Samsung is it"?
This time I played dumb- "What's that?" I said.

Bottom line.
They exchanged it- The result was night and day. So much better.
I then checked and sure enough- it's the Samsung. (!)
I wasn't really buying the hype- but to my eyes- no doubt the Samsung is correct and it was worth the hassle.

IMO- Apple knows this is an issue.
Demand the Samsung.

Contrary to what I thought initially, the background of Terminal in fullscreen mode is not pure black, it's a pattern like in Safari surrounding pages (edges visible while scrolling too far). This pattern makes for part of the gray color that can be seen at 100% brightness.

Try changing the opacity of the background to 100% :)

Thanks man, I appreciate this post. I ended up going, but to exchange my iPad 2, which also had horrible light leak.

I will try my luck with the MBA this weekend.
