Light wallpaper, how get black text for Desktop file name?

In previous systems, a light wallpaper made the desktop file names black for greater contrast. In Yosemite, even with a white (#FFFFFF) wallpaper, the desktop file labels are white with a faint black shadow. Why this downgrade? 🙁
