I recently came across an iOS app called “Grafio” which looks like a cheaper and lighter version of OmniGraffle. The feature set on that app fits my basic uses just right.

Is there a robust, lighter and cheaper alternative to OmniGraffle on the Mac skin to Grafio?

I don't use it but a few of my friends do. I use that dev's Fluid app, an SSB - after several years of timely updates to Fluid I can pretty much endorse that dev's work, I just ponied up for a v2 license of Fluid after years of support from the dev for Fluid v1. FWIW, I use OmniGraffle 5 Pro (purchased before the MAS even existed...) - if it wasn't working well for me I'd likely fork over 10 Benjamins for Shapes...

I have used Omnigraffle for many years - mainly for technical diagrams such as flowcharts. If you are just after simple drawing features then macOS has them built in:
