I called Apple on Sunday to order a lighting USB cable and I already received it... Shipped from China on the 24th... Free Shipping also. Apple has best customer service!

How did you get free shipping? I thought there was a $50 min.

I'm going to guess s/he paid $57 (3 @ $19) + tax just like anyone else buying a lightning cable from Apple.

yep. Thats it. Using the apple store app, I was actually able to see the cable was available for local pickup. Instead of buying it with the store app (because I couldn't find an easy way to change my quantity to 3) I just went in to pick up.

Adapters/converters, and cables are selling cheap on ebay.. non apple brand, but compatible.. are they worth it?

the apple cable has an authentication chip in it that third parties don't. might not work, so its a risk.

I dont think the cables have an authentication chip like the car keys have on their fobs, that wont work with the original car key fobs.

I doubt, apple has come to that stage as of yet.. even if it is.. they wont sell something like that for cheap.. :D

I have a question about Lightning cables.
Is it a possibility that the tip of the chip breaks inside the iphone port? i mean if the cable bends to an "L" position from the port end.. or the phone falls off while charging?? Its just a tiny plastic tip.. wondering!??
