Hi all,

Just picked up a new Mac Pro (2019, 8-core, 580X). It's amazingly fast and Photoshop now actually runs at full speed rather than me doing something and then having a couple of seconds of lag time before it takes effect.

However, I've noticed an issue with Adobe Lightroom and was wondering if anyone had a solution?

I'm using a Benq 2700PT monitor colour calibrated with the i1 Display Pro, signal over HDMI plugged directly into the 580x. When I open an image in the Develop module of LR it looks massively oversaturated. The library module however seems to show accurate colours. Photoshop also shows accurate colours.

The only way that I've found to get accurate colours in LR's Develop module is to go into Preferences > Performance and then turn off the 'Use Graphics Processor'. This then immediately shows accurate colours in the Develop module. As soon as I turn the Graphics Processor on again the image goes back to oversaturated.

Clearly something with the graphics processor is causing LR to use the wrong profile, even though the Library module in LR and the whole of Photoshop are using the correct profile.

Any ideas how I can use my expensive new machine and LR with the graphics processor turned on?

Are you calibrating the BenQ with the i1 software or the Palette Master software?

I think @Apple fanboy uses a Benq.
He does when his Mac is working! Currently restoring from TM.

So I've noticed the exact same thing! I'm using an SW271. I had a word with one of our technicians at work and he says it's an Adobe issue. He's going to look into it and come back to me.

Thanks.
I'm glad it's not just me that's seeing the issue. It seems like for some reason lightroom just can't handle using a GPU.
I'll see if I can find a bug report form on Adobe's website.

From what I read, the overly saturated colors are indicative of double profiling (perhaps the system is applying the color profile, and Lightroom is applying over that).
Good idea on filing the bug report.

So I've just had a live chat with an Adobe rep who suggested filing a bug report. He reckons that basically Adobe Lightroom isn't tested with the GPU so therefore although it's a Metal supported card, Lightroom just doesn't support it.
I've filed a bug report. Hopefully a future LR update will address this issue.

Well I'm getting the same issue with mine. The fix seems to be to select a non calibrated generic profile. I get the exact same issue on a BenQ and an Eizo. So it seems something to do with any hardware calibrated screen. I've reached out to a few contacts who are looking at it for me.

So, after trawling through many other forums and YouTube videos I've found this video that shows the issue happening.

Apparently BenQ is aware and they have been working on a fix for a while now. Fingers crossed that fix comes out soon..!
Until then, this video is apparently the best workaround...

***EDITED TO ADD***
I've just followed the instructions in the 2nd video and it's worked. I can now use LightRoom with the GPU turned on and I don't get oversaturated colours.
