Lights under the keypads dim on some

MBP late 2011

All lights underneath the keys see to be dim, compared to three which are lit up more.

The letters NHY are brighter and rest are dull..

Could it be battery? or is there another possible reason?

It could possibly be caused by a spill on the laptop. Or the backlight just failed. Either way, the keyboard needs to be replaced.

If there was a spill, could i just leave it and deal with the dimmed lights.
