Limera1n Beta

To Update Beta, just re-JB over previous JB

I didn't get an answer to my question, so I just decided to try it because I had Beta 2 and wanted Beta 4 to be safe. It worked, just redownload the limera1n and then do exactly what you did the first time. All apps that you've already downloaded stay there and Cydia remains installed.

THX for that.I was curious as well.I might reJB since I used Beta 3..but my phone is working great,so I might just leave as is.

Well I do have troubles with parallels here... first of all both itunes interfere all the time when the ipad is recognized, itunes on the parallels system asks to restore the device , i can start limera1n and it says the jailbreak is done but the ipad stays in maintenance mode... any suggestions ?
 
Can somebody give me some exact instructions? I can't get it to work on my ipod touch 4G. I plugged it in and click main it rain and it just says "waiting for device" and then I put it in DFU mode and it says "in DFU mode...waiting" or something like that.

Much appreciated to whoever gives me something to try. :D

you will have to try a new computer or port....cause the JB is as easy as it gets....good luck.

I've tried multiple USB ports that all work. I don't have windows on my macbook, so I tried it on a XP desktop. I'll try it on my other one.

But you didn't really answer my question...Am I supposed to put it in DFU mode then plug it in and make it ra1n?

No, all you do is download/open Limera1n, plug in iPhone (ignore iTunes), and like "make it ra1n", then it will tell you to put in DFU mode and give you time-based instructions, then after its in DFU, it will have a droplet show on your iphone screen, then it will turn off. All you need to do is unplug, turn your phone back on, and install Cydia through the limera1n
Should be the same for iphone/ipod

Alright thanks. Tried beta 4 (last night it was beta 2) on 2 different computers with XP. Says waiting for device right now. Will be trying it on a windows 7 laptop in a couple minutes though...

edit: windows 7 is a no go either...

No one has seemed to answer this question for sure so here it goes again.... If we are on beta 3 can we do beta 4 right over the old one or do we have to restore and rejailbreak. And is there anywhere to look to confirm what beta we are on? Thanks

iTunes has to be installed on the machine you're using, at least in my experience.

What version of iTunes do you have installed in Windows? I had an older version 9.1 and it failed. I had to update to iTunes 10 and it worked.

I don't care if there are more Windows users, last time I checked the Iphone was an Apple product.

What would you say when I sad "I can jailbreak the Playstation 3 but all you need is a xbox360 to do it"

Also this negative attitude towards Windows is what gives us mac users a bad name in other OS circles.

The only thing I care for is tethering, since Apple blocked that I'm kinda pissed off about that.
And hackers don't do things for free, they've an agenda, honor, ego etc.

stop sounding like a douche! The jailbreak works just fine. In this world, if someone can come out first with a new product, they do. Thats what it is all about.

If you spent a great deal of time working on something, wouldn't you try to beat the competition at releasing the finished product?

there are plenty of other forums for whining:D

iTunes has to be installed and running in the background while you do limera1n. Least thats the only way it worked on my other iPhone 4. So I did the same on the other. No issues yet.
