I originally ordered an iPhone X during preorder, but the one I received was having screen issues so the Genius Bar recommended returning it. I then placed an order online (3-4 weeks) but then cancelled it to try do in store pick up. By the time I tried to order, my local store went out of stock. Now I’m getting a message saying I’ve reached the iPhone X purchase limit. Has anyone ever gotten this message? Would my only option be buying at an Apple store?

I bought 4 on launch...all shipped. Didn't know there was a limit.

Did you buy them with different #s or same? I was able to buy 2 other iPhone X (different numbers from our family plan) but won’t let me order when I put my phone # in.

I didn't use numbers or anything, I just bought 4 of the T-Mobile ones that will work globally. Maybe thats why I had no limit, paid in full without a contract or anything.

Have you checked pending orders on your carrier’s website? It’s possible that those returns/cancellations have not been updated with the carrier, and it may be showing too many pending orders on the line when Apple does the check for a new order. Just a guess...
