Line in? what does it do?

    Hi everyone?

    Ok, so i bought my first mac and i was wondering what Audio line in does on a 15" Macbook Pro? Can you please tell me some uses. Sorry for such a stupid question ;)

    it is used for recording audio. mics and stuff use that port.

    another example amongst many (for the OP), you can plug in an electric guitar for Garageband.

    is it possible to plug my iPod in and use my computers speakers?

    but why would you want to do that when you can play it with iTunes with your supplied USB cable? Besides, even if you could, the sound quality will always be better playing it through iTunes.

    Same thing line in does on anything. It's an audio input.
