The fact that I have a profile that I never created lets me know they are a shady and opportunistic company. I once had to host something on SlideShare for academic purposes and they used my information from that account to create one on their site.

This sure is not a bug, I am glad they got caught.

I once set up a legitimate account to view something. I got spammed so much before I shut it down that it forever tainted my perception of the operation. Even that seemed opportunistic.

Users quite often copy their username/password which becomes available on the clipboard. Reading this is just malicious. Companies, when caught doing shady stuffs, should just come out and acknowledge that they did that. Blaming it on a bug is just dishonest. Anyone with basic understanding of programming knows this is not a bug. Deliberately having lines of code that read the clipboard is certainly not a bug.

Tiktok even goes as far as claiming a noble cause for doing it when they got caught with their hands in the cookies jar. How dishonest and hypocratic can they be?

I'll bet it's just some crappy helper library everyone imports, or the devs were otherwise lazy (not even in a bad way). Tons of apps do this, and it's easy to intercept the traffic and see if it's sending your clipboard contents back, which afaik nobody has reported. It's good iOS calls this out now so things get fixed going forward, but some people are freaking out about nothing.

I guess I'm not clear on this. Isn't the clipboard supposed to be available system wide so that you can copy from one app to paste into another? The very nature of how the system wide clipboard works necessitates all apps have access to it. Or am I reading this wrong?

There's one thing in common with all these apps I bet most on this forum aren't aware of ... I bet I could tell the political leaning of the dudes iPhone in the video in less than 3 seconds.

That kind of makes sense when one comes to think about it 🤔. I must be missing something though 🤔

So I would assume that when one wants to do a copy/paste whatever is copied is copied into clipboard before being pasted unless I am wrong 🤔

They should access the clip board when you allow it to. The apps are auto reading what is on the clipboard. It shouldn't read until you select paste.

I went to go use TikTok on my iPhone and I received a message at the top of my screen "TikTok Pasted from Wallet." I reported it to Apple along with diagnostic information and a screen recording of it occurring.
If the message is accurate. That’s bad. Glad you recorded, and reported it!
