Linking images in 'Numbers' spreadsheet?

Hi all,

I've been trying to find a way to link local files inside a 'Numbers' spreadsheet. As far as I can tell, Numbers only allows weblinks or emails, but no actual files.
Does anybody have any good suggestions how to work around this limitation?

update: I managed to link to images stored on my iCloud account. That could be a decent workaround, though having the ability to link to local files would be really nice to have.
