Can you tell me if your app requires being inside a wireless network to achieve WIFI transfer? I am looking for the ability to transfer photos to my iPad from my iPhone in the field for markup. I am in the contracting business and take photos while on the job site. There will be no WIFI available and BT seems to be too slow to transfer. Thanks.

Thanks for your question. Yes, for now, Photo transfer requires you to have a wifi network available to transfer your photos from iPhone to iPad. If you have a computer with you while you are in the field then you could use the computer to create an 'ad-hoc' network to transfer photos from iPhone to iPad. Basically, your computer would become a wifi spot that you can connect from iPhone and iPad.

Email me if you want instructions on how to create an ad-hoc network: info[at]phototransferapp[dot]com

I use an iPhone app called 'Bluetooth image' to transfer photos between my iPad - iPhone when there is no wifi. I have wifi only iPad.

You can only send 1 photo at a time but it is pretty fast and reliable compared to some other Bluetooth apps I tried that worked / failed intermittently.

Bump Works!

Just discovered Bump will transfer photos as well as contacts via wifi. It's free but can only send 4 photos at a time.

It transferred a lot more than 4 photos for me. 175 at once! Not sure what the upper limit might be. The only drawback is that you have to choose each photo individually. I don't believe Bump is restricted to wifi either as it's intended to allow you to exchange contact info with people you meet (like a virtual business card).

I'd have never thought of using Bump for moving my own photos between devices. Thanks for the idea.
