It was a bit sensationalist. I like him presenting new hardware though.
most of his sources was fake reports and wrong statics as he might be smitten by TDS now.

if he only knew some presidents this century stopped NORAD (a report of 47 employees) from missile detection to monitor their Facebook, tweeter post and delete the negative ones on them. heck they will delete this reply soon!

Interesting video on why Jake quit LTT There's a lot to unpack, particularity reading between the lines, regarding how he felt he was valued and compensated vs. Linus buying is 3rd house. It also feels like once he gave his notice, it seems like Linus and his wife may have been rather cool to him - taking it personally. I'm making a leap on this one - its just reading between the lines based on his statements.

One thing that really bothered me with LTT, but you can use almost any influencer. When they produce a video or series about upgrading their home, and they're adding all of this crazy expensive tech. I'm sorry, I live paycheck to paycheck, and I really don't want to see some YTer show off his mansion, that holds a datacenter that Microsoft would drool over.

As said have zero interest in influencers flexing, we're financially stable so don't care. Certainly not wasting time on a no it all, who is basically just a poorly educated entertainer... LTT is just the MacDonalds of YT and likely best avoided.

yes, I realized this morning there is really nothing new to video about on  products these past 3 months,
how many used eBay MacBooks can he win, repair then post a video... only to run Sonoma on them?
as the fan base dwindles on these tech YT sites, some need to grasp those controversial straws to rally up the clicks!

(oh this post was about Luke M)

Yep - that one hit home. I'm not surprised he left.

His new channel is really good and growing fast.

Alex and Andy left in much more amicable circumstances. I've subbed his channels too.

Hmm, I did notice that LTT videos seemed to be getting fewer views of late (some struggle to break 1 million views, when they should have easily clocked 2-3 million in a couple of days). I kinda just attributed it to tech being less interesting of late. A lot of the OG staff don't seem to be around any more (always was a fan of Dennis). I guess people come and go and my concern for LTT as a company is that it has pretty much built its fortune around Linus as a personality. What happens when people get tired of him or when he eventually ages out of the role? Are his children expected to take over or something?

We didn’t really watch YouTube much but started watching LTT last year through the “Scrapyard Wars” stuff. We watched some of the other stuff, and it was good.

However, we started drifting away when the channel seemed to move towards focussing on things outside the realm of normal human beings. Giving many thousands of dollars of tech to an employee, buying fire trucks, doing up his house, etc. We just felt detached from it.

Now I don’t even click to see what he’s putting out. It feels like they just got too big and lost track of their core focus.

When the focus becomes money, creativity is often lost.

Hello
Me again!

I just viewed several ASUS ExpertBook Ultra notebook, laptop on YT reviews as I stumbled on "short circuit"
featured our friend Linus who nailed the Asus with enough info and no BS as the others offered.
He does know his tech and can present a product with a talented flowing oration compared to others.

ih that might be my next computer as the screen is perfect along with the chassis being finger-print resistant.

Interesting

My take is those OG people were counterweights to Linus' personality, they offset some of his negative or irritating tendencies. Now that those folks are gone, its all and completely the Linus show. I poke in on the channel, once in a while, and it will have a topic that could interest me, but my overall take away is that its just too much Linus and its the same boring stuff.

As for people moving on you're right but from reviewing the why I quit videos from those that posted, a common theme emerged, and its necessarily a Linus fault but more likely becoming more corporate. The common theme is that they all wore different hats, they focused on stuff that was fun, did lots of interesting things that fell outside of their job description. It seems when Linus stepped down as CEO and Terrance Tong came on board, that all stopped. You worked your job description and things got really boring, they got boxed on their jobs and never saw their projects through completion, it was just handing it off to the next person in the process.

I can see how things become more business like and you lose the excitement that made the channel grow.

He's annoying and has a tendency to flex. To me some of the best of LTT have gone, replaced by more similar to Linus. Previously there was a balance, that was lost that some time back...

To me LTT has always been an entertainment channel with a flair for tech, that's faded. If I want details on new HW there's simple better more detailed channels who solely focus on that not fooling about with no skewed figures.

i always agree with your angle and posts on MRF, and this one as well, BUT

yesterday i found a video under ShortCircuit as his video on the asus expertbook was informative, ever-flowing, honesty ("although you dont want to spring for that in this current climate" Linus comically said about upgrade in storage)
as the explanation just non-stop fun, his natural arrogant computer cockyness and incite-ful.

maybe because Asus sponsored the video or he takes his ego off the camera on this page.
as the other reviews were too long, boring, mundane, non-flowing articulation wise, and just petty.

that video was all i need to know about that Asus model as only he could do that.

maybe because Asus sponsored the video
It seems Linus was falling over himself praising this laptop, I wonder why. Oh wait the big banner in the beginning stating it was sponsored by Asus

Don't get me wrong, I think Asus makes good if not great laptops, but I'm not making my buying decisions on a gloried commercial. I'll wait until the reviewers who are not paid by the product owner.

this wont happen until June or when the laptop is on sale at stores.

on another note i think these Panther lake laptops will be more expensive than we are used to
they will start at $1,700 instead of $999 and escalate a lot more for storage or RAM when the econ flourishes.

some comedian said that another should not sway a voter,
i feel the same way with a product on uTube review as a tech store visit is in the pattern.
especially a $1700 laptop i hope to use for 20 years.

After getting carpet-bombed with Snapdragon videos in 2025, I take sponsored videos with a large grain of salt. If you do a snapdragon video and don't mention the compatibility issues, then you're just not unbiased.

Asus is like Lenovo. Their higher-end stuff is good and their lower-end stuff has issues. I see a huge number of complaints on the Lenovo sub and the vast majority are on the sub-$1,000 products. We've had issues with Asus products, particularly in how long they support them, and it looks like you get longer support periods if you buy their higher-end products like ROG Strix. That is one big difference with Apple is that they do not tier their support.

I started watching the asus vid, but it very quickly felt like he was reading off a spec sheet. It was sponsored, and it didn’t feel like a genuine opinion. I clicked away. Then I noticed LTTstore sponsoring another video I watched. I guess they’re trying to maximise their income.
