Linux on M4 Mac Mini

Was possibly going to look into getting Linux on my Mac Mini. Is this even possible? Has anyone ran Linux on the M4 before?

You can run Linux in a VM using something like UTM.

VMWare Fusion is free.

I don't know how the different free VMs compare.
