consult the distribution’s installation guide or the first YouTube video that comes up when you search. It’s not too hard. Set the bios boot order and plug in the prepared usb. The rest is explained by the installer. Unless it’s arch or gentoo.
For a macOS like experience either get ElementaryOS, Mint in its Cupertino look or a bit further away, anything based on Gnome. It isn’t quite as Mac like as the others but their design philosophy is certainly closer than Kde, xfce, etc.

Personally, I use Lenovo ThinkPad's primarily to host Linux OS, with Fedora KDE being my preferred OS. My current system is a ThinkPad P52, and its been real solid. I also have a ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5 that I run various OS's on (Mint, Manjaro, and Pop!). For a good OS with a macOS look and feel, give ZorinOS a try (you'll have to purchase the Pro version for that). I have been using it off and on up to version 16, but will probably purchase 17 when I have some time freed up to give it a go.
