is it at all possible to install linux as a secondary partition instead of windows through boot camp? or could i install windows, and find some work-around that installs linux in windows (so the mac would still believe it as windows)?

like, i could install linux on the windows partition maybe?

Yes, partition the drive using bootcamp, then insert the linux cd, restart and hold c. When it asks for the partition besure to choose the one you made for windows.
