    Hi,

Sorry this may be a real dumb question but i am really new to macs!

Basically i cannot stop the following applications launching on start up.

    Firefox
    VLC

I have looked in account/loginitems and they are not listed in there. I have checked firefox and the launch at startup is not selected.

    Help! ?

    Thanks

    Tepp

Right click on their Dock icons and see if "Open at login" is checked.

Whhen you shut down it is the check box window that comes up and asks you if you want to reopen the apps. uncheck that. It is a feature of Lion. I use an apple script that shuts down and does this for me. It is called CleanShutdown.app.
