Someone posted somewhere on here that an Apple Engineer told him (at WWDC, persumably) that restore disks in new computers will be no more when Lion is released.

I don't believe it. How do you restore your OS if you hard drive crashes?

Of course not, but I don't think they will offer media. Download + utility to restore to thumb drive.

OK, but download + utility to create an installable DVD or thumbdrive = the same end result. Although, I think Apple will provide it for those special cases, and it will be USB stick (new MacBook Air's already ship with USB sticks for restore).

Apple wants you to take it to them. Just look at the latest iMac, you can't even replace the hard drive because of that proprietary cable. 😡
