Yeah, I hear you talkin. The main reason we used Xeons was we required a hardware vendor that offered certified configurations for use with NX and ProE. They weren't the best performing boxes available but the total support package was there. :)

Exactly. Apple support on the other hand + previous generation Xeon + Apple's engineering prowess (such as it isn't) would have been a major disaster.

I sure hope when the Mac Pro update finally comes that they are not liquid cooled.. hopefully Apple has learned their lesson on this.

The G5 only became liquid cooled the closer they were reaching 3Ghz. The G5 chip is just too hot. It wont happen with Intel, unless Intel screw up with power and heat etc. Truthfully I can't ever see that happening.

nice that they replaced it but would be a bummer if you needed the PPC.

Very true! It was an Art Dept. machine, and they still have to open or convert really old PageMaker/Quark files in Classic every once in awhile, so that was a bummer.

But then again I am trying to phase out Classic programs in our office. We only have a few Classic programs left that we use from time to time, so as we continue to upgrade our Macs, that will help force the transition which is nice. :)
