We still have some SGI systems kicking around the department.
Mac System X - It sucked.
After looking into this, I realize I care about four things.
1.) Stability
2.) Speed
3.) good CLI
4.) If it has a GUI, it has to look good.
Linux I'd consider Gnome one of the best looking and functioning desktops I've ever seen, up to and including OSX.
It's minimal, clean, easy to use
I kinda like sprocket layers.

I've never seen an SGI system, but we still have a DEC-branded Alpha server in the datacentre. I believe that it's running NT.
The most esoteric thing that I have at home would be my RISC OS machine. It's a fast OS but unfortunately development has trailed off to fixing compatibility issues with new hardware. Indeed the last thing I did with it was around adding touchscreen support to the mouse driver...
