Some of these I don't really understand. Like why have TouchID for Scanner Pro/DayOne when you need TouchID to unlock the phone in the first place. Seems redundant too me and it's not like the authentication is different.
Only thing I can think of is if you let kids or other people use your phone.

Loving the fact that third party apps can finally use Touch ID.

On an off topic issue, has anyone been able to figure out how to have 1password auto fill fields in Safari?
On the bottom of safari press the square icon with arrow and slide bottom icons over until you see 1password. Select and it will be obvious from there.

Is there a setting that needs to be turned on before Touch ID will work for apps? I have iOS 8 and the updated Mint app, but there doesn't seem to be the option to use touch id for the password...?

I have long been very happy with my iphone 5, but this makes me very jealous of 5s and (soon) 6 owners. Very cool stuff.

Enabling Touch ID

So... How do I enable Touch ID in these apps? I just have a couple, but thus far I don't see any reference in the app, it's preferences, or settings for Touch ID. I went to the Touch ID panel in Settings, and it says I have it enabled for the App Store and Unlock, but there's no choice for using it for other apps.

Am I missing some step someplace?

Same issue here...!

Example : Press "Share" button in safari , you can see the "Action" icon
just below the "App" icon , slide right , you can edit and enable the extension.

I just bought two different things from Amazon and neither time did it offer for me to use Touch ID. What am I missing?

No...the Touch ID is apparently supposed to work in the actual apps listed above, right?

Example: I still need to manually type in my password for my mint app. Nowhere does it say or offer me to use Touch ID for the app (not safari)

For 1Password, it's Settings -> Security and there's a switch there to enable Touch ID.

As was brought up above, it appears 1Password is using the presence api and not the keystore one. You have to unlock the app first, and then every time you switch back it'll ask for Touch ID.

If you don't use Touch ID, you want to set the Master Passcode lock to something like 10 minutes so it's secure when you're not using it.

If you are using Touch ID, you want to set the Master Passcode lock to something much longer. 1Password will unlock, but then require Touch ID to access every time you switch away.

I might be stupid. Can someone explain 1password to me? I downloaded it and tried to setup a login but I just dont understand.

Its so I dont have to type in my password to macrumors, for example, right? So confused.

only took a year...

Hey, Jerky McJerkster, please, by all means, go buy one of the other manufacturers' phones that have had this bullet-proof security feature for a year!

People like you make me want to unplug the Internet.

I'm sure USAA won't be too far behind. They are always at the forefront of adding in these types of things to their banking app.

I'm jealous. It took a few years of me and some other members nagging to get an iPhone app at all. It's smooth and really cohesive, but the response I got when I asked today about TouchID was "uh..."

Fingers crossed we get it within the next year!

1Password = Put all the sites that you have login/password into.. 1 password secures all that info in 1 place and you wanna go to a site with your login, it'll make secure password and click on the site click you're login done ...
