List view in Finder w/ no icons

I am trying to find a way to remove/hide all icons in the Finder list view.

All that I wan to see is the title of the file, then I will sort them by "kind" .

Is there a way to hide the icons completely?

Edit: Alternatively - is it possible to change the default icon for a certain file type/folder?

It's not possible to hide the icon in any view in the Finder.

CandyBar lets you change the default system icons. It may be able to do what you want.
