Couldn't get pictures though. I'll put the case back on for the day, then see if any come back by tonight. Then I'll be able to get hold of a camera.
 
When sand got in my case thats what happened to mine. They are little dings. They won't come out.
 
It doesn't even have to be sand. A lot of incidental, tiny debris, like dust, can be remarkably abrasive. This kind of abrasion can happen just from not making sure the iPod/iPhone and the case are both very clean before you put them together.
 
I don't think so. The case is very...for lack of better words... Protective...

It is rubber and quite soft and kind to the phone.

Could the spots be from stress coming from inside the phone like the cracks that formed on some phones?

Well i have that exact rubber case and the same dots everywhere on the back. you may notice that the beizer gets unpolished too. :(
i bought this case for $1 in hong kong.
