Who is using Little Snitch, is it worth the USD $45 ?

Are there other alternatives worth considering or are better?

TIA

You can run the demo version as long as you like, it just stops after 3 hours and you have to start it again.
There is a promotion, you can get Little Snitch for 29$ https://bundlehunt.com
A free alternative LuLu https://objective-see.com/products/lulu.html

Edit to add source:
"Without a license key, Little Snitch runs in demo mode, which provides the same protection and functionality as the full version. The demo runs for three hours, and it can be restarted as often as you like."

Is that site legit?
Yes, it is. I’ve bought several apps from there in the past, including Little Snitch, Downie and VideoProc.
If you buy apps totaling under 35$, five dollars are added to the total cost to “unlock the bundle”.
If you buy apps totaling over 35$, you don’t pay the extra 5$.
So, if you only buy Little Snitch, you will pay 29$ + 5$.

Ok, what time does the offer end?

Shame I bought iMazing 5 device licence (with 30% off) last year November. Don't know what else to buy with Little Snitch to get it over $35. They don't have iStat

The e-mail I received about 2 hours ago says 24 hours

You could always contact the developer and ask if a particular site is an authorized distributor.

Personally, when I buy privacy or security software I purchase directly from the developer or company. I prefer to pay a few dollars more up front than potentially have to deal with the fallout from unwanted alterations or additions to the software. I also don't want my information sold to yet another online marketing database by a bundler.

----------
ETA: I'm a long time user of Little Snitch and strongly recommend it. I also use a few Objective-See utilities and don't have any reservations about recommending its software.

You download the software from the developer’s site and activate with the license received by e-mail.

I've owned a paid copy of Little Snitch for several years, and have been thru a few upgrades. Its "worth it" to me to keep using. I've paid for all kinds of crap that wasn't, at least for me and my needs.

Only you can determine if it will be "worth it" for you.

How often do you have to pay for upgrades. I thought it was once off purchase and could be upgraded for free

Updates are free, upgrades are not.
This is how much I would have to pay to upgrade my Little Snitch 3 to 5 on the official website https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/order.html

So, it’s cheaper to buy a new license from bundlehunt than the official “reduced price”.

As mentioned above: “Without a license key, Little Snitch runs in demo mode, which provides the same protection and functionality as the full version. The demo runs for three hours, and it can be restarted as often as you like.” :)

Thanks for suggestion. Is this mostly for file uploads etc, eg websites etc.. what do you use it for
I use it for copying files mostly - handling merge of folders and such. It's nothing that Finder couldn't handle, but I like ForkLift's merge folder option as opposed to what Finder can offer; better choices of what to do with a given merge. I am not totally confident in Finder's lack of an interface for such operations.

So ForkLift and Marta too(although not the discussion here. It's a free file manager)

I haven't used any FTP features or connecting to servers of any kind in quite some time. I have only really connected to Mozilla's FTP.

I don't use any of ForkLift's features in this regard. Perhaps when I get a hold of a NAS I'll use features that relate to connecting servers.

bogdanw already said it better that I could have. I've just paid once, but for me its been a good product. If an OS upgrade caused me to need to purchase a Little Snitch major upgrade, I would do that. I'm not a security person IRL/work, but I am very security conscience.

hoping this doesn't come across as snooty, even though IMHO, some people do come across this way to me. I see a lot of people, mostly in other places/forums that are touting FOSS - free and open software. And you're almost a bad person if you advocate for anything other than FOSS. I use a lot of software myself, including commercial, open source, etc.

Its not that I'm against the whole FOSS thing, I'm really more about just using the best tool (for me) for the job. I'm not interested in getting caught up in software marketing philosophies. Secondly, I strongly believe that if you've got the skills to produce a software product that I want/need, said person should probably get paid for their work and efforts. I paid for my copy of Little Snitch and I am happy with my purchase.

All this is just a personal oddity of mine, hope is hasn't upset you or caused anyone else any problems. But don't get me started on a Unix vs linux rant.

It’s on the front page, two apps down from Little Snitch. Or probably eight down, if viewed on a mobile device :)

I purchased Little Snitch and Cookie. It came in under $35 (34.50) but still got the $5 discount. THANK YOU for all your help and everyone that replied ;)

Just need to find a deal on Carbon Copy Cloner, and iStat :)
