Watching the event. I'm not trying to troll, if that's what it comes across as. Sorry.

I just expected something else based on how long they have been working on this TV and how SJ said he finally "figured it out".

Siri will search iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime....with others to come in the future.

I hope that doesn't mean they limit it to only apps they want. I'd love for Plex to make an app for this and have my local Plex library integrated into it. That would sell me on the TV. So far... nothing else has.

I played Frogger 30 YEARS ago on my Atari 2600 on my television. It used an 'App' called a game cartridge. How far we have come since eh? Unbelievable. And not in a good way either ...still. There's always the 'new' iPhone...

I'm not bashing the game.. Looks completely acceptable and fun to play in a lets all get drunk sort of way.

My point was that they are showing it off on a supposed flagship product that has taken them years to release. That's all.

He's saying the bitrate won't be high enough to look as good as, let alone better than, a 1080p bluray. And he's right.

He's wrong, because the new ATV won't do HDR either. HDR is impressive, whether streamed with 4k or 2K.

Right... "4K"... that's doesn't even beat 1080P off a blue-ray.

So streaming 4k is still much better than streaming 1080p. Blu-ray is getting it's 4k counterpart in early 2016 with Samsung announcing it's first player and Fox announcing several titles. The plus is those player will have the 4k apps that this won't have. 4k is the future and with the majority of 4k tv's becoming affordable. We are going to see a massive adoption rate and if you think they won't want to see 4K content streaming or otherwise, you would be mistaken.
