My Prediction: Apple is changing the set-top cable box and the way we will get/view our content. Steve Jobs said "I've cracked the code". Tim Cook also said in an interview, the cable box interface and the way the family gathers around the TV is like something from the 70's.

HBO and ABC announced subscriptions without having to have a cable/satellite package. I'm sure many others will follow suit, or already have the plan, but have not yet announced it.

You may be on to something here....we will know shortly.

Add CBS just announced a similar package. Interesting timing.

It's been a long time ... for any major surprises in an Apple event. Hope this is the one.

You're forgetting the 30 minutes of pre-amble, about how many apps have been downloaded, how much has been paid to developers, a video of a new Apple Store somewhere in Asia, and a few quotes from the US press about how magical the new iPhone is..

Unless they skip it like they did during the iPhone event. I don't think they'll skip it completely, but they may condense it.

so im usually not home when theses event stream but i am today, does the stream just show up in the "home screen" of apple tv or do i need to download something? my apple tv2 is jailbroken so i havent updated the software in a few years.

Bring on the Macs (mainly a new Mac Mini so that all those folks with older ones will flood the market! :D self serving I know!)

Waiting to see if there is any new type of software that hasn't been announced yet for the iPads!

I've got my popcorn, Kool-Aid and Chinese translator prepared, let's get this thing on the road already!

Maybe a completely new Mac Mini model? More like the Mac Pro but smaller? Should be cool. New iPads: yawn. Yosemite: yes please. iPod refresh: I wish.

It's cool they might release a retina external display, but it's a shame it wouldn't be compatible with my older Mac Pro.

I agree. I would love this to happen. What is the meaning of Apple's "It's been way too long" event. TV has been stuck in the past, it's been way too long...need to move with the times.

HBO yesterday and CBS announced today they are creating a pure streaming version of their service. Apple has allowed those companies to get out in front and make their own announcements. Will Apple have partners come out on stage? Perhaps their partners will be HBO and CBS and Showtime as its owned by CBS). This new service will be available to everyone who already owns an Apple TV so no new announcement about an updated set top box.

Apple will say they believe they have the right platform to launch a pure streaming and on demand TV product using iTunes and all the credit cards already stored on iTunes puts :apple: far ahead of its rivals in trying this.

Probably not today but Apple will launch a new UI for the Apple TV. I still believe any new set top box will be able to play games on them using the Metal API and an A7 processor. You will control it using Siri. And possibly your iPhone/ipad/ipod touch.

We can dream......because of course this won't be what today's event will be about.

Hope there's a new Mac-Mini.

And wouldn't it be just awesome if there's a new even thinner iPhone? Because God knows, the 6's just aren't thin enough.

this will and must be more about Macs (30 years anniversary) and Apple knows that. So mac mini/imacs for sure because Intel cpu for desktops are available starting November. Maybe an Apple TV too

Definitely, Amazon have stopped selling Mac Mini/iMac's and that's always a sign of a refresh - I have a feeling they might be available to buy pretty soon after the event too.
