There will be a new Mac Pro just not this year. This is not its replacement. They will have to go back to some kind of modern cheese grater design.

iMac Pro - not extensible. Apple have gone form over factor once again.

Once again the form factor will be the limitation.

On the positive side it sounds pretty special. I'd better apply for the the mortgage now!

So it'll use Skylake-X which is an Intel panic move to Threadripper. All for the nice low price of an arm and a leg.

Skylake doesn't support ECC to my knowledge. These will be Xeons (so yes, expensive).
