Awesome, now when new levels get made for a game, the dev can charge more for them instead of just updating them in for free.

They ALREADY charge for them, but now you get 3, 4, or 5 icons on your desktop since each set is a whole new app.

This is WAY better.

I don't see why you'd prefer having multiple icons for the same program.

What is that smily face icon we keep seeing? It was used last year.... I keep thinking it will be an iPhone/iChat type messenger with PUSH. One can hope, right?

Good. Only paid apps can offer in-app pay upgrades.

No "Free" apps that then pester you to buy something later.

So apps that use this WON'T use it in an annoying way, or their initial sales will suffer. So this won't be a problem. Developers will use it tastefully or they'll suffer.

Oh thank you. Finally P2P connectivity between devices. Wonder how far that will reach both in terms of radio range and how much it will be allowed to do. Transfer songs perhaps?

BF

Edit: Bluetooth. Answers the range question. So does this imply that Bluetooth is being opened up (finally)?

No, I meant for example in a game, the original had 10 levels, in a month the dev makes 10 more levels, the game would get a free update with the new levels, not a new game. Now he can charge for the 10 new levels instead of just putting out a free update.

BTW, P2P awesome!

"With 3.0, we're going to enable accessory developers to build custom apps that talk directly to that hardware."

Oooohhhh... let's see what he has to say about this

Wow, this is great news so far for devs (meaning countless threads of bitching from everyone else:rolleyes:) so far.

Apps for using accessories!

AND P2P!!!! Woooohooooo! Local multiplayer games, maybe Zune-style song sharing?

I can't believe Apple is embracing FM trans for audio playback. It's such a flimsy way to connect Audio to a vehicle. meh w/e i guess.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking abuot. What's that robot game? Toybot or something? There are several versions in the app store. They're the same game, just different levels, and they ALL cost money.

How is the current way better? It just takes up more space on your launch screen. Combining them into one program would cost the same, work the same, but be far more convinient.

man i hope appulo.us will crack an app with all the add ons and distribute it that way... that is if the servers are back online (haven't checked)

woot. Developers get access to the port. Wonder if that has an extra licensing fee though
