This might be a tall order.

I was just looking at one of the lovely 5K desktop backgrounds in Sierra and thinking how gorgeous it would be if there was one of these that reflected the current daylight/nighttime lighting in the user's time zone.

In other words, a view of mountains (or a city, the ocean, whatever) where the lighting continually changes throughout the day, and becomes dark at night. Not necessarily a live video stream, even just a simulation that was shot at some other time but which was keyed to the time of day.

Does such a thing exist -- in high resolution? Again, I realize this is probably pie in the sky, but figured I'd ask in case it exists...

If you could find a series of day to night images, you can put them in a folder and set the background to rotate every hour etc.

You should check out the 24 Hour Wallpaper app, it does just that! A friend of mine makes it, so I'm biased, but I do like it :)
