As Macduke said, Apples focus with accessibility has always been on another level. Similarly to how to how they implemented the wheelchair functionality for the Apple Watch, I think that shows they realize that not everybody has the same capabilities and they want to make their products accessible to everyone as much as possible.

Apple TV really needs to enable separate Audio to Wireless headphones.
What do you mean by "Separate"? It already sends audio to wireless headphones. Do you mean send audio to the TV and headphones simultaneously?

It's interesting that we might be at a point where people will be sitting at a table with headphones on talking to each other, while from the outside it looks like they are doing the opposite of that essentially given that they would be wearing headphones.
Yes, would be kinda sad, but I'm not fond of this place anyway, so idc.

Since this is the first iOS 12 related post for AirPods, did anyone tried their luck on volume control directly on AirPods without Siri?
Something like a triple tap or long press?

Tried it by adding the Hearing button in control center. Has a slight delay, but pretty nifty.

+1 I tried it with my iPad Air 2 and my AirPods. It works, with a slight delay.

If I connect my AirPods to my iPad running iOS 12, go into Bluetooth, and select options for the connected AirPods, I see no new settings. I see only the same left and right double-tap options.

This is actually really cool. I tried it a few hours ago, and the combination of audio quality and impressive ability to pick up subtle sounds is interesting.

Yes but only by yourself.

isn't that the point? one person wants to listen to tv.. the other wants to sleep? if both wanted to listen.. why not .. um.. not use headphones (talking about apple tv pairing with bluetooth)? I suppose you could say 'because the baby is sleeping'...

Beware of individuals “accidentally” leaving their phones near you.
Be aware of that right now. Voice Memos do a pretty good job at the same task.

You don't need to be paranoide to realize that todays gadgets can be quite easily used and abused for spying on other people and it doesn't take many efforts or skills to make them work for that purpose.

...just something everyone should consider if they find themselves in need of keep conversations confidential...

Yes, or the kids, or you and a buddy want to play games while the wife or girlfriend is alseep, or roommates. Or while the parents are asleep, or the grandparents. Or you’re watching a movie along with the parents/grandparents who are hard of hearing and want the volume louder, but instead you give them AirPods with independent volume. My parents notoriously listen to the TV together late at night when family is visiting, and wakes us all up in the middle of the night.

Apple took the headphone jack away, and gave us a great digital option, but in doing so, gave us no way to share an audio source with them, except for two people in mono.

But if you already use hearing aids, you can’t use EarPods, how does this help?
My grandpa has hearing aids and will often pull them out and use a bigger booster device. Depends how bad your disability is and the context of the sounds around you or if someone soft spoken is speaking.

Apple's focus on accessibility can't be stopped and is really putting other companies to shame. Nobody else cares this much.

I agree. But with that said, I hope they fix the issues that those of us with hearing aids are having. IOS 11 has been a NIGHTMARE with dropping connections and other issues that weren't present in IOS 10.

That operates on BT, right? I think BT in general on iOS just seems super glitchy these days. Even more so than in the past. IDK if it's because there are too many wireless signals all around us or so many things connected to our BT all the time like Apple Watches.

I'd also like to add that you should write to Apple about it. They take it very seriously. If you'd like, I can provide you with contact information for members of the executive relations team in a private message and they should be able to accelerate your communication.

Yes, it is through Bluetooth and is a known issue with the hearing aid companies and supposedly Apple. When i contacted Resound, they said Apple will have a fix in a future release. I thought maybe i had a faulty pair of aids or a hardware issue but after contacting the company and scouring forums, it’s a very common issue that dates back to the release of 11.

I would love that contact info. Thank you!

This is a cool feature, but I imagine that most people that need it will already have a hearing aid anyway. Good for Apple for caring though.
I can't use a conventional hearing aid and a cochlear implant is the only thing that might help my hearing loss. No thanks; I don't want to go through that. Since my biggest issue is in crowds and environments with lots of white noise, this might be a real help. I had held off on AirPods, but this might get me to buy some.
