Mine arrived at Anchorage and cleared customs today and while FedEx hasn't said anything, I'm convinced mine is currently on FedEx flight 22 to Memphis.

I'd love for it to arrive early but unfortunately it'll probably spend all of tomorrow getting from Memphis to Oakland and then my local FedEx center whom will probably wait until the next day to put it on a vehicle. oh well, atleast it's finally coming and it's not stuck in China anymore

Yes!! on FedEx vehicle for delivery!! That was an hour ago, hope it shows up before I go to school in a few hours. :) I would love to sync it up quickly and take it with me. :)

Hey all, I finally got my touch!!!This thing is so amazing and blows away my first gen in every way!!! The web is so fast, I'm typing this from my iPod! And iOS 4 just rocks. :)

Can someone help me find what flight my ipod touch is on? I've tried looking it up but I couldn't seem to find it. Thanks

Alaska is a hub for international transport, and practically every Fedex package goes through their central hub in Memphis.

Not true I have ordered many things that have been shipped via FedEx and I have only had a package go through Memphis once or twice. Most of the time my packages going from west to east travel through there Indianapolis hub. I live in MD by the way.

Delivery routes

Just a few FYI for some confused people regarding the fedex routes. First of all, the city its coming from, Kushan CN, is where all iPod Touches have been made, from 1st gen, to 4th gen. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunshan)
The reason not all ship from China, is originally, when the new models come out, they ship right off the assembly. It doesn't get any newer than that. After they've fulfilled enough products, they'll eventually ship bulk to the US and distribute from there. Also at that point, they begin on the new designs. (Source: Ex-Apple.com customer service rep) So if your iTouch shipped from the US, your only a few months away from being outdated.

Also, Fedex has contracts with Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, ALL imports from Asia arrive through there. Also, some have questioned why it all went to Memphis, TN, even when going to Oakland I saw for a few. Reason being is Memphis is Fedex corporate center, and their "super hub" (Source: Me, I work for a merchant company that exclusively uses Fedex, our shipments 90% of the time, regardless of where they come from, go to Memphis, before coming to WI)

I also read on a different forum that people think Apple takes a huge loss giving free shipping from China. Per the Fedex website, to most places in the US from China is about $35 at most it seems. And I'm sure Apple has a nice contract with Fedex to reduce those costs more.

Hope some of this helped those who had questions about the crazing shipping! :apple:

I understand you heard this from someone who worked in customer service. But these people are NOT involved in manufacturing or design. They "know" what they hear and are told. I am sure this person THINKS this is true. But really that idea is ridiculous. There is no way that in a few months the next gen of Touch's are going to be manufactured.

Sorry if I worded it improperly. But once they START shipping these from their US location, they're a few months from a new release. And, yes I do know that customer service reps are NOT involved in manufacturing or design, but, you can infer, when year after year, once they start shipping the touch from the US, they're always within a few months from a new model.

Mine is in my state so I'll be getting tomorrow. At least I hope so, it went from Alaska to New Jersey in 1 day so hopefully they can cross VA and get here :p

I got mine 5 days ago but I'm still curious on shipping

I paid for next day (or overnight, different parts of Apple's website have a different name for it) shipping. yet it took 4 days for my iPod to get from China to here. so do I still have to pay the overnight shipping charge?

When they tried to drop it off and missed me they left a door tag that had "FedEx Express" on top instead of the usual "FedEx Home Delivery" and indeed it did leave FedEx's center in Oakland at 5AM and made it 122 miles and onto a FedEx vehicle for delivery in the same day and a day earlier than estimated. so maybe that's the "overnight" part of the 4 day journey and therefore I still have to pay?
