I just got a pair of AirPods 4 with ANC. One thing I was curious about and wanted was Live Translation Not something I need for day to day life but I go to Germany every 3 or 4 years and have family there who don't speak English and I don't speak German. I tried out LiveTranslate with a German Youtube video and while it did translate reasonably well it was a lot slower then I expected. Has anyone tried this on iOS 27? I read somewhere that with AI it is going to speed up and improve elements of this, just wondering how much and if the improvement is actually noticeable?

There is an advanced AI dictation for 17 Pro or Air (and newer, of course). That might lead to some better translation down the line, but it is slower and might not work for live translation.

I got it from Google AI when I googled the question. I did it again and it said the same thing it will be faster. Then because you questioned it I asked it to show sources. Generative AI, man... it very rarely lives up to expectations. It truly boggles my mind that these incredibly error prone bots have become practically everybody's default method of querying the internet, at this point.
AI is very helpful in many ways, though I do agree more fact checking it is important. And the default ti google and google implements Gemini so your top result is an AI answer so unless you are using a different search engine you are getting an AI response from the get go.

But it's worse than just Google:
- Bing gives you Copilot answers first by default, which is mostly OpenAI’s GPT-4o,
- Yahoo gives you "Yahoo Scout" answers first by default, which is just a rebranded OpenAI Claude,
- Yandex reportedly also uses AI heavily -- though, I'm not going to go look for myself, because Russia,
- Even DuckDuckGo provides an AI answer by default -- though in my brief test, at least it wasn't the very first result in the list.
