It doesn't work the best...when I click on the voicemail icon to send someone to VM for Live Voicemail, it then says I can only see it when unlocked, but I can't unlock the phone as it's then stuck on the calling screen.

More than likely a bug, but not quite smooth yet.

iPhone 13 Pro Max - so no dynamic island...that may be where the bug is coming in from.

It's worked when I already had my phone unlocked and could test and see, but if my phone is just sitting there and I don't answer, it won't let me see a live voicemail.
I'm glad im not the only one with this frustration. I do have a 14 Pro with dynamic island. I tap the voicemail button on an incoming call, then I have to swipe up to unlock the device, which takes me to the Home Screen. I then have to quickly tap the voicemail bubble on the dynamic island to actually see the transcript.

Apple either needs to be doing Face ID unlock during the phone ringing, or they need the option to allow transcript while locked. I really don't like how it currently works.

Apple still support voice message transcriptions only in english I think after like 5 or even more years....So another useless feature for all those people not using their iphones in english.
Correction. It only works in US English doesn’t work in Australia for example.

This is actually working well for me. It save me from answering a stupid auto warranty sales call, and stopped me from ignoring an important call.

I think I might stick with this instead of Google Voice Mail.

My only gripe is, I wish there was a setting that allows the live voice mail without any interaction at all. Would be nice to just glance at live voice mail when my iPhone is on its charging stand, even when it's locked.

Also, a killer feature would it would be if, live voice mail appeared on the Apple Watch as well.

Nor the UK. Absolutely mental that it doesn't work for us either.

But this is Apple, not the brightest bunch.

It requires integration and cooperation with carriers. That takes time. Not related at all to a projected cognitive issue.

EDIT: yes, it's been pointed out multiple times that I misread the issue and had 'Live Voicemail Transcripts' on the brain as opposed to the much older visual voicemail.

5 years? Sorry, no excuse!

And I’m not sure you are right. I remember messing about with this years ago and set my phone to US and the feature worked. Therefore I don’t think it does require the carriers intervention….

No it doesn't. If i set everything to US english i get visual voice mail transcripts. We were taking about the original visual voice mail transcriptions, not iOS 17's live voice mail.

I'll tell you what, most people have no idea what to do when they call you and live voicemail picks up, no one leaves me voicemail now.

Live Voicemail is completely independent from carriers. It does not sync or connect to you carrier’s voicemail system.
