Omg this is so dumb lol. It really needs to animate upon unlocking (you’d at least see it for a split second for Face ID) or it could even animate when the screen wakes so touch ID users could see it. That movement in user interaction would flow well... and it would be cool if it moved as you swiped between screens. So weird of Apple to include this when it literally does nothing. Who is force pressing their lock screen lol!?

Well it can be done with dynamic wallpaper but I would like to make a Live Photo, loop it and use it as a dynamic wallpaper.

l think the live wallpapers are just to show you what you can do with using a Live Photo taken with your iPhone as a lock screen wallpaper
[doublepost=1510602765][/doublepost]l wish you could set the wallpapers to change the same way you can set your mac’s wallpaper to cycle through a certain album in photos.

I agree, live wallpaper as implemented now is a novelty whose coolness wears off quickly. It only animates when you press and hold. And only for 5 seconds. Imagine if Christmas tree lights only shine when you press and hold a button.

Much better would be a larger selection of dynamic wallpapers, or live wallpapers that at the very least animate when the lock screen comes on. On iPhone X, I like the dynamic wallpaper with multi-colored bubbles on a deep black background. But I'll get tired of it after a while. Apple should share the dynamic wallpaper secret sauce with developers so we could get some dynamic wallpaper apps.

I like the perspective zoom feature on still wallpapers, the way it makes the wallpaper picture look further back than the icons and makes the icons look like they're almost floating over the picture.

The dynamic wallpapers suck too. What’s with the stupid dots? Is it 1969 again? Groovy man. Groovy. Hell, video of an actual lava lamp would be more interesting. Oh, and thanks Apple, for the wide variety of choices too.

If Apple added an always on mode for live wallpapers like android, I’d be a hit. I love the wallpapers the google pixel has of the beach

The earth wallpaper should be dynamic, but Apple is VERY conservative with battery consumption. I don't care much for the live wallpapers, but I do like the liquid ones for their looks.

I want it to look like there is a live goldfish swimming around in my phone at all times, even on home screen during use. Anything short of that is dead to me. The world has been waiting since the 1970’s for goldfish shoes/accessories to live up to their original promise/potential. Sadly still not there.

I have the iPhone X. The dynamic wallpaper is similar to androids parallax effect wallpapers. However if you compare what they both call live wallpaper you will notice those are technically the same but androids moves nonstop locked or not it plays it in a loop. Perhaps Apple could implement a similar feature. I remember one I really liked on android it was gold glowing dots and shamrocks slowly falling from top of screen to bottom like snow in possibly a 10 to 30 second loop without having to touch or press the screen.

I have live weather on my lockscreen and homescreens. When I had iOS 6 I had Livepapers which used a Nexus theme (lines moving across the screen in a cascade) which was on top of my live weather.

But I"m jailbroken.

Doubt Apple is going to do that.

I think it only makes sense when you use a Live Photo, i.e. of your child or pet

As someone who is both childless and petless, I disagree. I’d love to see a looping image of my girl laughing or the live picture of a waterfall I took. :p

Of course, having to 3D Touch the screen each time is tedious and I honestly forgot I could even do that.

Dynamic wallpapers have not been updated or added to since 2013 and were obviously aimed at the 5c.

It’s a mystery as to why they are still in the OS after all this time. Especially as iOS 11 doesn’t even support the 5c.

Live wallpapers have been about as widely used as 3D Touch ie not by many people.

If reports are to be believed, 2019 will see 3D Touch disappear - and I’d imagine that the smoke and goldfish wallpapers will disappear too with 3D wallpapers being able to be created still from photos app for a few more years.

And finally the era of gimmicky iOS wallpaper will be over, until...

‘We call them... AR wallpapers!’

Mind you, I’d love the day/night wallpaper feature from Mojave on iOS. And a dark mode.
