does anybody have any suggestions or experience? i would like to have a pole mounted weather cam, about 20 feet high in the air, it would be exposed to the elements and it would have to work with my mac.

thanks

I would suggest some sort of enclosure. Not even the tv stations just have a camera sitting out there getting pummeled.

It would most likely have to be an ethernet camera if you want it to work with your Mac... USB would lose too much signal strength over that much distance. Also, Cat 6 cabling would survive better in the elements than USB because you can buy it in longer continuous lengths.

Newegg has ethernet cameras here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2050130521&bop=And&Order=RATING

And long Cat 6 cables here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2052810132+123040285+1230513961&name=6
