Fat iMac lcds? Yep, you can change the controller board. Only issues I've found with swapping these around is converting a 2011 into a 2010/9 - causes the LCD to heat up a lot.

No problem. Yeah -- I don't know if anyone else has had any success when converting a 2011 LCD to a 2010/9, but every time I have, it's either the whole LCD assembly, or the whole iMac itself heats up a lot more than it would normally.
You are right in the fact that swapping over the controller boards will let the LCD work though!
