Just noticed this on the front of Apples welcome page. This is certainly digg worthy so the pic links to my blog.

If I was El Jobso I would have taken that down for a week or two.

    Apple couldn't care less IMO.
Its business as usual, they're just promoting their products on their site.
Obviously with OS4.0 betas stuff like Mobile Me find my iphone features still dont fully function so gives them a pass.

    Applejuiced it's 'couldn't' as in "I couldn't care less."

Apple lost their prototype, yet they are promoting how to find your iPhone, when they couldn't even keep track of their own.

Actually, "I could care less" is a widely used American idiom just as it is, even if it is officially considered bad grammar.

"I could care less" is in the same vein as other common ironic sayings that actually mean the opposite:

"Big deal". "Great". "I should be so lucky". "Yeah right".

For some reason, it became fashionable to argue online against it in the past few years. Perhaps it's because the saying doesn't come across as well on the Internet as it does in person, where the emphasis on "could" lets the listener know it's sarcastic.

it's probably because the British phrase isn't really used in sarcasm, or at least not in the same way, it's said as a statement, hence we say "i couldn't care less". sarcasm is often missed in written form, as proven on these forums on a daily basis :)

i had no idea until now that it was said in this way by americans, i just thought of it as a typo when i see it. I don't think i've ever bothered correcting people on it though since it's obvious what they mean.

As long as people are doling out grammar lessons for free, I may as well throw my hat into the bin.

Irregardless is not a real word actually. I mean it is real in the sense that people use it often enough that it is accepted, but in a grammatical sense it is a double negative, and as such, should not be used.

Duh. That was the point. Along with loose, anyways, etc.;)

FYI, I think it is pretty petty when people post these corrections. I think it's only appropriate when you have a poster calling everyone morons or stupid, who posts crap like the above.
