You’re complaining about a computer that Apple no longer sells ?
totally agree on this one. if they'd just kept the 2015 design but updated the internals to the horse power in today's 2018 MBP, man, what a machine that would be. And...no keyboard problems!! And all the other crap that's followed the recent MBP around.
They must have dumped their supplies to BB.
The fact that there is a 2 week backorder tells me they are swamped with sales.

A 15" 2015 mbp with newer CPU's and larger SSD sizes as standard would be PERFECT. As it stands I'm going to have to wait until Apple gets rid of these terrible "butterfly" keyboards and finally(!) updates the SSD standard sizes.... and hopefully adds some extra non-dongle ports... and starts selling models without the daft touchbar!

Is your thought process truly so limited that that is the only possible explanation?
Part of the sales flop is because they didn’t refresh the Macbbok Pro until this month (typically they are released a month earlier in early June at WWDC), which means the Q3 results are lower than last year and most years before that. Not really a fair comparison if you ask me.
People keep saying that Apple should stayed with this, Apple should have stayed with that. There maybe some truth with that, but reality is that what’s been done is done, and Apple won’t go back to that design.
As for the wait times on Best Buy, I really don’t think that’s based on demand, likely a limited supply of what’s left being shuffled around between warehouses/stores.
Most likely, "backorder" in this case just means "out of stock". BB isn't getting resupplied by Apple.
If you're still looking for a 2015 model, Adorama has a bunch of configurations still available and is listed as a closeout item. Wouldn't bank on Best Buy receiving any additional shipments.
