I want to load osx 10.3 on my 120 gig external and use it temporarily as a startup disk. Every time I try it stopps after the first disk and starts over. What's up with this?

u should be able to select the srtaup disk the moment u press the power button hold down the option key the one with the apple logo i think and u can select ur external drive if u have a valid os on it and its connected via firewire!!

if that fails try carbon copy cloner and clone ur current os to ur external drive.

good luck

Or you can go into system preferences > start up disks and then select your external to be the default bootable drive for osx. Then when you need to switch repeat the process :)
