loading problems

hello everyone.

i have an iMac G5 and the system suddenly stopped working... when switching on it makes the old laughing mac and a ? icon... i tried to reset the software using the original discs that came with the iMac. i press C on startup and then it loads. it stops when it asks for the destination folder as it does not find any folder to install mac os x in. what can i do??? thanks for your help 🙂

Your disk's filesystem is probably damaged to the point where Mac OS can't read it anymore. Run Disk Utility (or Disk First Aid if the disk is a Mac OS 9 disk) and check your disk for filesystem errors.
