I was informed that on an old firmware version of iOS 6 that Apple has taken away the option of a user doing a "local in-house" wireless sync of your mobile devices to your iMac/MBP without using iCloud. And from then on Apple has forced users to only use iCloud to wirelessly sync your mobile devices to your base stations. Is this true?

yeah, I was told that you have to push things through iCloud to do a Wifi sync with your iPhone to your iMac, if this is incorrect, then there must have been a period where this non-iCloud Wifi sync was stopped or prevented from Apple and then maybe re-introduced and resumed again after many users complained of not having the option to not use iCloud?
