Lock screen in german

Hi,

Just bought and set up my new macbook air. During set up I selected the language to be English (UK) and the region to be united kingdom.

However, the lock screen (and as far as I can tell only the lock screen) is in German.

Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?!

Could you provide a screenshot.

Had the same problem earlier this year, my system is in french but the login screen was english.

Edit: The instructions for Lion/Mountain Lion works also in Mavericks.
