Hi,

I don’t know if this was introduced in Sonoma 14.3, but on the Lock Screen settings, I noticed that there is a setting called Show User Name and Photo. I enabled it and after a shutdown or reboot the login window (FileVault window) just asks for a password which I find it to be a very great feature for privacy reasons who don’t really want to reveal their names especially in public places.

Here’s a screen capture on how it looks.

Did Apple added this feature for users who don’t want to reveal their username for privacy reasons?

You'd have to ask Apple "why?" ... the best we could do is guess ... and who really knows what Timmy and his little friends are thinking these days anyway. :D

I’ve done some testing on this setting and it only hides the username if no other additional user accounts exist.

When I created a Test account, even the mentioned setting disappeared from the Lock Screen setting.

But after I deleted the Test user account, the Show Username and Photo option has re-appeared again.

If someone has additional user accounts, then this option on the Lock Screen setting will NOT appear.

If someone does have additional user accounts, then can you please let me know if this option appears or not?

Just to really confirm.

But, I got to say, I really like this option to not have the username shown on the login or lock screen because it just looks much cleaner and more professional looking.
