Hi folks,
i have a problem with system wide shortcuts.

i have managed to do the following:
a shortcut for Lock Screen in the keychain menu in menubar.

link to picture: http://twitpic.com/qs5wm/full

but that shortcut just wont work?
why that?
can anybody help me with that weird case?

kind regards

I don't know how to fix it, but if you want to get rid of it, you can hold cmd and click and drag it away. :)

i dont wanna get rid of it. at the moment i use the mouse to manually
select this option.
but as long as there is the possibility to create a shortcut on this menu-
action, it should work, so why isnt it?

cheers

btw. an additional feature would be locking the macbook in anohter way.
there is an option for locking the screen after
ScreenSaver/ScreenSleep/MacSleep
but i only want it to lock after MacSleep.

that would be at least a little bit satisfying.

cheers

It took me a little while to track it down, but an app that I use to use allows for setting up shortcut keys to lock the screen. It's called SizzlingKeys. It's primary use is for keyboard shortcuts to control iTunes, but it has an extras tab that allows setting up keyboard shortcut keys for sleeping, screen saver, and locking. Though, the locking actually just returns you to the login screen, just like when using fast user switching.

Ye, but pretty hard - isnt it? double shortcut? i cant believe apple is
not able to buildin that simple but very useful and needed function.

That function works fine on all my systems since OS 10.4.
No issues whatsoever on 10.4.9 till 10.6.2.

How have you done it?
This tutorial describes it very well. Click
