Looks like this lock is easily able to be broken into and apple sells at it at the apple store.

Seemed like the perfect companion to my iPhone and HomeKit enabled tho use but after seeing this video I don’t think so.

I’m sure MacRumors will add this to their front page tomorrow morning.

Ever since the article pops out people are already mocking the lock being incredibly easy to pick due to its core design.
You just realise now?
LPL picking this lock in seconds is really nothing unsurprising.
Also, Apple doesn’t have a whole lot to do with these locks and lock maker should take the brunt of the blame Anyways.
Here’s an example.

You’re not paying for the lock with these “smart” locks, it’s the tech they use so they are all trash when it comes to actual security. A lot of the mass produced lock companies are poor quality regardless.

You need to decide if you want a lock as a deterrent or for actual security. If it’s for security then you have a lot of work to do cause odds are your door frame is some type of wood and depending on build quality a few good kicks near that area your door is opening regardless of lock.

Point is, locks have always been a deterrent and folks are delusional if they think their current locks are going to prevent someone who really wants in unless you’ve purposely designed it that way.

Ha, yes, I was not impressed with the unit that arrived last week. Apple has already revived my return.

Hahaha...not so fast!

I mean, any lock can be picked. You just want to get one that’s harder to pick than your neighbor’s. ;)

I have a Yale smartlock with key, keypad, and wireless entry. It’s a higher end version of the one in the second and third videos, and suits my needs perfectly, but I have no illusions that it makes my home secure.

Apple should start taking the brunt if they don't pull them quick

At least have it take a trained lockpicker and not anyone on YT. Plus if it takes too long, they'll move on. Eventually someone will spot them and call the police

So even though he clearly mentioned in the video that the cylinder is replaceable with a more secure one you’re gonna return it anyways? You realize that the majority of locks on the market don’t come with very secure keys and cylinders right? You gotta get a locksmith to replace them with a key and cylinder that is way more secure than what comes stock. Otherwise you may as well wait until there is a HomeKey lock that does not have a physical key if you aren’t going to be satisfied with the stock key and cylinder.
