as far as regular syncing goes, I just sync it in the morning after I check for new episodes of my podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis. When it syncs, it is set up to back up the phone. When I got the 5, I restored from my 4's backup, and it restored everything, including my password keeper data with all of my work related passwords for the gazillion systems I need to have access to.
