Locked iPhone, six months old - unlock?

I know all of you are busy with the iPhone 4 but I am looking to buy a used iPhone 3GS 32GB. It was bought in January 2010 and is locked to the carieer: 3. Is it possible to unlock it so I can use it with my own sim-card from another carieer?

I know you're using blackrain but can it sim-unlock such a "new" iPhone?
