locked iphone to unlocked iphone

can I just pull the sim from a locked iphone 5c to an unlocked 6+ and it just works wo a call to ATT

and if it does work will the 6+ then be carrier locked? this is for ATT

If the 6+ was purchased unlocked, then yes, it will work and it will not lock the 6+

Any fully unlocked device will never lock no matter what sim you put in.

I did it and am with ATT. The only thing I saw was my voice mail asked that I reenter my VM passcode. Other than that all is perfect.

It won't lock it, and it should work. However, you might receive an SMS from AT&T telling you to get a new SIM card. I got that message when I first put the SIM from my unlocked iPhone 5s to my iPhone 6. I think that certain features like VoLTE might require a new SIM to work on AT&T. However, you can do that at your leisure since regular 3G voice and all data services will work just fine.
