Went to the Apple store in SF to clear up a problem with Safari crashing and cover flow crashing and the "Genius" (I'm using that term loosely) and he tells me to reset the phone using General-Reset which he says will clear the Safari cache and possibly fix a few other hiccups. I reset as he suggests, but the "Genius" fails to tell me that it will reset all my icons, wipe out my Exchange email acct, etc..basically returning my phone to default factory mode.

Now, my visual vm is asking for a passcode which I never had previously set up and I don't know what to enter. The other problem is, I won't be at my home computer for another few days, so I can't do a restore.

Anyone have any ideas what to do? This is with the iphone 3g 2.1 firmware.

thx
