ApplerepairsinLondon are con men!

Sorry to bump an old thread but i noticed on here someone saying about applerepairsinlondon, who in my experiences cannot be trusted!

I am posting as i know people search for them and then find this thread which i think is how i stumbled across them, they are the worst company i have ever worked with.

At the beginning of this year i began to have problems with my macbook, apple as usual gave me a ridiculous qoute so i decided to use apple repairs in london as they seemed cheap, they received my macbook and gave me a different qoute which changed every time i spoke to them. I asked for my macbook back and they kept telling me it had been sent, eventually i spoke to their manager (Tariq) who requested i send £20 to have it sent back, i argued that this had never been agreed and that i would send TNT to collect it myself (My friend has a business account with them so it worked out cheaper) TNT visited them on 2 occasions to be told that there was nothing to collect. Eventually I paid applerepairsinlondon a visit myself, they would not accept my macbook was white and tried to fob me off with a black macbook without my hard drive, ram, and not of the same model. They have been arguing this for weeks now and still do not accept my macbook is white despite confirming this in their original emails. I have searched the internet and found countless other stories about the company and how they have ripped people off, I have had to seek legal advice in an attempt to get my macbook back.

Again, apologies for bumping an old thread, but i didn't want people stumbling across the original post and going with apple repairs in london, they cannot be trusted and are a bunch of conmen

I contacted applerepairsinlondon about fixing my logic board , I wanted to send the board in on its own and was told they can't do it without my whole laptop.

I know the board is gone and have since replaced it but in my eyes this possibly shows they are a bit micky mouse, I don't believe a specialist mac repair company wouldn't have some kind of test bed, they only need a power board and screen to test it any way so I struggle to see why they can't.

Completely agree - AVOID applerepairsinlondon .co.uk!

Re:http://www.applerepairsinlondon.co.uk/

Ollie I completely agree - had a horrific experience with this place too. Paid a lot of money for a logic board repair and it barely lasted a month. The owner is very unreliable and extremely aggresive and threatening. Also, they only accept cash - which seems a bit dodgy in retrospect. They also didn't call back when promosed despite my ringing multiple times, and refused to re-repair the damaged logic board claiming the part was now beyond repair. I had barely used the machine since it's initial repair. Furthermore, he refused to explain what exactly was wrong this time, and also what exactly he had done last time. He also refused to tell me his name.

I know Apple themselves are prohibitively expensive for most of us, but I would not recommend this place in the slightest based on this experience. Stay well clear of applerepairsinlondon.co.uk and use an alternative repair shop.

Incidentally, does anyone know what action can be taking against someone who clearly does a botched job but I believe claims to be Apple certified? Or is that just a qualification rather than an official register of approved repairers?

I would recommend avoiding this place, I had a very, very bad experience with them. I sent them my macbook for repair about a month ago, but when they told me how much it was to fix it, I decided not to have it done and asked them to send it back to me (this is within their policy). A month later, I got an email from some guy telling me they had sent him my macbook by mistake and had sent it back to them. I then rang them a couple of weeks later to ask them what was going on with my macbook, and they told me they had no record of having received it ever.

This may just have been bad luck for me, but their service is appalling as well. I was constantly told they would ring me back in 30 minutes, only for them to never contact me, and I would have to keep ringing and ringing back to get anywhere. They also kept changing the cost, at one point quoting a certain figure, at another saying it was irreparable.

Applerepairsinlondon also have plenty of aliases so beware!

Looks like these guys also have a shop at 29 Ealing Road, Wembley (as well as the one on 343 FULHAM PALACE ROAD), and also go by several other names:

- Pacific computers: http://www.pacific-computers.co.uk/contactus.asp
- http://www.macbookproonline.com/

They all seem to link to the same guy, a Mr M Haq. Unsurpsingly, Apple haven't heard of him. The latter site (macbookproonline.com) states that they are "Apple Certified Engineers". THIS IS A LIE. They are NOT in any way regulated or authorised by Apple. All it means is that someone has once done a basic qualification in what a mac looks like. STAY WELL CLEAR of this place and any of its subsidiaries....

Macbook Pro Logic Board-ruined =(

Hello there,

I had few weeks ago the same problem: my macbook pro suddenly collapsed, i took it to the ishop (in Colombia, southamerica) and they said the Logic board is ruined- buy a new one!
At the same time, the guy that told me that I should buy another is insisting in buying my "ruined" computer (paying me around 200 dollars. Isnt this weird??? if he said it cannot work at all, why is he calling and calling to buy it????????

I do not know what to do.. and I can read from your comments there are solutions... can you please advise me what to do?
I am currently in Colombia, but soon going to Germany. Maybe somebody knows a place in Germany where I can take my computer?).
Please help!

thanks

It is common for companies to do the following.

Let's say they really need part X for someone who just walked in. They can make a quick $150 off of this, but only if they can do it the same day.

Your laptop is dead. You can't test if part X in it works or not. They replace part X from new customer's machine with part X from yours.

They repair your board, tell you that your board + part X were bad. They usually charge $150 to repair part X, but since you're already having your board repaired, they'll repair part X at the "homey rate" of $50.

It's disgusting. It happens often. There's a place not too far from me here that is LEGENDARY for that, they have even recently posted a sign that says we are required to give you the parts we claim are dead from your machine back, probably because of all the DCA complaints from people who've been defrauded by this ********.

Anyplace doing component level repair should be able to test the logic board without your full machine.

The flip side of the coin is they want to ensure it all works. let's say they repair your board. You get it back, put the LVDS connector in for the display a little lopsided and turn it on. You have no backlight on the display as a result. Now, it's "their fault" for giving you back a board that was defective, even though you're the one who broke it. The customer never admits when they're the one who broke it.

By requiring the entire machine be brought in, the repair shop has a higher degree of control over your experience. They can ensure the board is put back in properly, and that other issues with the machine are attended to. So there will be less negative reviews from people putting their repaired board into their own machine and messing it up.

The two sides of the coin are above.

My preferred method is to test the laptop in front of the customer to confirm whatever issue there is, remove the board in front of them, and give them their computer back. They can come back once the board is fixed. We'll install the board in front of them.

If there are any other issues(part X doesn't work), they know it isn't because we stole a part, and the board will work as intended because we installed it. If the board does NOT work when we install it, then at least we know it's our fault!

Food for thought.

What model is it? iFixit.com has a lot of parts... you could check them, or by posting your model (and perhaps location), we could assist you in finding a part near you.
